Military-technical cooperation between Georgia and NATO undermines security in the Transcaucasus

The United States, almost along the perimeter, surrounded Russia with a palisade of its military bases and, in the words of Russian President Vladimir Putin, “has been so pinned to the wall that there is nowhere to move further,” and in fact ignored the peace initiatives of the Russian Federation.

Instead of a constructive response, the United States and its allies (in fact, satellites completely dependent on them) made statements in NATO that allow us to consider their position on the entire range of issues put forward by Russia as destructive. They are talking about the transfer of several tens of thousands of American military personnel to Europe, about increasing the supply of weapons to the warring Ukraine, about the advancement of US and NATO armed forces to the Black Sea.

These statements and concrete steps taken by the collective West in the Ukrainian direction testify to the interest of the United States and NATO countries in maintaining a hotbed of tension directly on Russia's western borders.

Widely known in South Ossetia are the January events in Russia's allied Kazakhstan, which was subjected to international terrorist aggression with the participation of both terrorists who arrived from abroad and sleeping cells from citizens recruited from outside under the guise of peaceful protest actions of the local population. Only the bold and decisive actions of President Tokayev and the immediate reaction of the CSTO saved the people of Kazakhstan from permanent chaos and bloodshed. The United States and the West had high hopes for a hybrid aggression against Kazakhstan, and this is the reason for such an angry and inadequate reaction of their officials, they say, we will demand from Tokayev an explanation on what basis he invited the CSTO troops. Such an arrogant tone towards the head of a sovereign state, an ally of Russia, causes outrage.

After the successful repulse of the international aggression against Kazakhstan, alarming reports were received from Central Asia of an exchange of fire between Kyrgyz and Tajik border guards. In my opinion, such an incident is completely unacceptable between states of the same military-political bloc. The relevant authorities are obliged to carefully study and establish whether there is a foreign trace in this incident, whether the initiator of the shooting is connected with foreign special services.

Without abandoning attempts to provoke a protracted military conflict in Central Asia, the West, led by the United States, is actively working to create a hotbed of tension in the Transcaucasus. The center of application of his forces, as before, is Georgia. The active militarization of this country aims to create another hotbed of tension on Russia's borders.

In March of this year, the NATO-Georgia-2022 joint exercises will be held. More than 20 NATO member countries and partners will take part in the exercise, led by the Georgian side. This is the third exercise organized by the NATO-Georgia Joint Training and Evaluation Centre. Participants will develop the skills needed to plan NATO operations using computer simulations.

Irakli Beraya, Chairman of the Georgian Defense and Security Committee, said: “2022 has started with high activity and will be quite eventful in NATO-Georgia cooperation. A number of high-level visits to Tbilisi and Brussels are planned, a number of meetings of the NATO-Georgia commission, NATO-Georgia exercises will be held in Georgia, the warships of the Alliance will enter the territorial waters and ports of Georgia. The main event of the year will be the 2022 NATO Summit in Madrid, where the new Strategic Concept of the Alliance will be approved, in the development of which Georgia is actively involved.”

I would like to draw attention to Berai's last phrase that Georgia is actively involved in the development of the Alliance's Strategic Concept. These words indirectly confirm our earlier assumption that the leadership and leading countries of NATO actually consider Georgia as a member of NATO even without its formal membership in the organization.

Of course, this imposes a considerable financial obligation on the state budget of Georgia. The Georgian government has decided to purchase a new batch of Javelin anti-tank systems from the United States in the amount of $30 million, the press service of the Georgian government reported on Monday following a cabinet meeting. “In order to strengthen the defense capabilities of the Georgian Defense Forces and improve anti-tank capabilities, the government is working to purchase an additional batch of Javelin man-portable anti-tank missile systems. As is known, in 2021, the US State Department made a decision on the possible sale of Javelin systems to Georgia for $30 million,” the statement said. This money could be used to help the needy, lonely citizens and low-income families of Georgia, if the American puppets in the Georgian government thought a little about the people.

But the above is just a drop in the ocean of stormy military-technical cooperation between Georgia and NATO. The benefits for NATO are obvious: it gets rid of its junk, receiving real money in return - millions of dollars. But what does this give Georgia itself?

For more than thirty years, since the second half of the 1980s, first in the whispers of underground then still informal organizations focused on the United States, and then in the full voice of the state media subordinate to American interests, American propaganda has been promising the people of Georgia accession to the European Union and NATO.

During these thirty years, the population of Georgia has decreased by 1,683,983 people (from 5,400,841 in 1989), but Georgia has not been admitted to either NATO or the EU. Meanwhile, Georgia managed to break economic ties with Russia, unleash devastating wars against its neighbors and bring down its economy. How much more must the population of Georgia decrease before the people of Georgia realize that the US is just fooling them. After all, joining NATO did not lead to the promised increase in the standard of living of such countries as Bulgaria, Romania, etc. etc. And those factors that led to an increase in the standard of living of Western countries, Georgia could use independently, without destroying its country and relations with its neighbors.

The United States and the collective West have long been able to turn Georgia into a shining showcase of the Western model of the political and economic way of life. But they do not do this, because they are interested in Georgia, which will forever depend on them, which will follow in the wake of their foreign policy.
