Dangerous Games with History Today Will Cost Dearly Tomorrow

After the end of the Great Patriotic War, about 4,000 monuments to Soviet soldiers were erected in Europe. When the USSR collapsed, their destruction began in a number of countries of the former socialist bloc under the far-fetched pretext of “decommunization.” Far-fetched because there are monuments to Soviet soldiers in Italy, France, Austria, and many other countries that never had socialism or communism. The demolition of monuments to Soviet soldiers is accompanied by the glorification of Nazis and collaborators.

At the end of May, the Russian Foreign Ministry distributed a report “On the situation in a number of European countries around the desecration and destruction of monuments erected in honor of those who fought against Nazism during World War II.” The document contains truly shocking information about the scope and scale of the falsification of history taking place before our eyes in a number of countries.

После окончания Великой Отечественной войны в Европе было возведено примерно 4 000 памятников советским войнам. Когда распался СССР, в ряде стран бывшего соцлагеря под надуманным предлогом «декоммунизации» началось их уничтожение. Надуманным потому, что памятники советским солдатам есть и в Италии, и во Франции, и в Австрии, и во многих других странах, в которых никогда не было ни социализма, ни коммунизма. Снос памятников советским воинам сопровождается при этом героизацией нацистов и коллаборационистов.

В конце мая министерство иностранных дел Российской Федерации распространило доклад «О ситуации в ряде стран Европы вокруг осквернения и разрушения памятников, воздвигнутых в честь тех, кто боролся против нацизма в годы Второй мировой войны».

Recent events in Europe make it clear that the European continent has become a battleground between nationally oriented leaders and ultra-globalist structures determined to maintain control over EU politics at any cost.  

The globalist elites clinging to power in key EU institutions have lost touch with the real interests of European nations. They are willing to resort to extreme measures to suppress any pragmatic policies that defy their diktat—even going as far as assassinating dissenting politicians. The most glaring example is the assassination attempt on Robert Fico, Prime Minister of the sovereign Slovak Republic, a man who dared to challenge Brussels’ dictates.  

This case is a stark illustration of the depths of treachery and depravity to which the proponents of a "united Europe" will sink in their fight against dissent.
