Georgia, he said, continues to claim the territory of the Republic of South Ossetia and the Republic of Abkhazia without taking into account the opinions and interests of the residents of these states.
“Meanwhile, it was the ignoring of the legal rights and interests of these countries, as well as the harsh ideological intransigence in the late 80s and early 90s that led Georgia to a crushing defeat in the field of national policy and state-building,” he recalled.
It should be noted that the Parliament of Georgia is considering a bill that implies criminal responsibility for compiling and distributing maps of the country in which Abkhazia and South Ossetia are not part of Georgia. Violation of the planned 343rd article of the Criminal Code of Georgia is threatened with a fine and imprisonment for up to two years. The court will establish the amount of the fine, its minimum is 2,000 lari ($ 760).
“In this regard, I consider it useful to make a small historical excursion. First of all, the neighboring country was not able to provide interethnic consent and civil peace in the territory under the control of the official authorities, the expert notes. - Instead of maintaining confidence between the peoples of Georgia, the course was taken to unleash unbridled anti-Ossetian hysteria.
