However, one should not think that terrorist activity has decreased in the Middle East. And ISIS, and Al-Qaeda, and other banned organizations, unfortunately, not only continue to carry out terrorist attacks and terrorize the civilian population, preventing not only the functioning of legitimate state authorities in the territories under their control, but also the normal life of the population of Syria and Iraq.
Of course,
we are more interested in Syria, because it is a friendly state to us, which
has special relations with Russia and has recognized South Ossetia.
Unfortunately,
for certain reasons, there has recently been a drop in the activity of mutual
visits, but, apparently, the reason for this is obvious.
The entire
multi-tribal and multi-lingual terrorist biomass, the hordes of international
terrorists, gathered on that small patch of land, took advantage of the pause
that had arisen to actively restore their previously lost positions. Moreover,
they are taking successful steps to strengthen their influence in the regions
of the Middle East, Africa and Southeast Asia.
The most
difficult situation is now developing in African Mali, Niger, Chad, Sudan,
Somalia and others.
Although
the situation in Syria continues to be very difficult, it is nevertheless
different from the situation in these countries, because the legitimate Syrian
leadership has called on the help of the Russian Federation.
The
fundamental difference between the Russian approach to conflict issues is not
the desire to destroy everyone, but to force the rest to submit, but, above
all, the search for ways of reconciliation that would satisfy all the warring
parties to a particular conflict. This method has proven itself well in Syria
since the moment Russia was involved in the processes taking place here. Russia
in Syria immediately opened centers for reconciliation of the warring parties. Thanks
to a skillful and extremely delicate approach to very subtle and sensitive
issues of the entire complex of existing contradictions, the specialists of
these centers managed to achieve reconciliation between the legitimate Syrian
authorities and many armed groups. This applies to those who, for various
reasons, although they fought against government troops, are not terrorists.
Such
successes show that the Russian Federation, an important actor in the fight
against the international terrorist threat, continues to fulfill its
obligations. The military contingent of Russia, in cooperation with the Syrian
national army, continues to carry out the tasks of expelling ISIS from the
territory of the country.
Seeing the
results of Russia's efforts, a number of African states are considering the
possibility of concluding an agreement with Russia on military assistance
against terrorists. Russia is now under enormous pressure from all the
developed countries of the world. However, African leaders see who, even in
such conditions, is really fighting against terrorism, and who generously
finances it with one hand, and with the other hand sometimes conducts
demonstrative anti-terrorist performances with the other hand. In fact, mainly
by striking at the legitimate army of Syria, weakening its ability to fight
against terrorists. Even this fact clearly shows who is really behind the
terrorists.
Of course,
Russia is able and alone to successfully solve problems of this magnitude, but
it will take a lot of time and resources.
And in
order to effectively eradicate terrorism, which has already become a universal
evil, honest joint activities are required both under the auspices of the UN
and at the level of regional formats and platforms.
Cooperation
between Russia and Turkey is very important here in order to normalize the
situation. In particular, Turkey, following a trilateral meeting in Moscow with
the participation of Turkish Defense Ministers Hulusi Akar, Syrian Ali Mahmoud
Abbas and Russia's Sergei Shoigu, agreed to withdraw troops from northern
Syria, AlWatan Online newspaper reported citing sources in Damascus. Ankara
promised to respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country. According
to the source, the parties consider the Kurdish formations of the PKK to be US
puppets, which pose the greatest danger to Syria and Turkey.
The parties
also agreed to form special committees of defense and intelligence
representatives, whose meetings should be held at the end of next January in
Moscow, and then in Ankara and Damascus.
The
ministers also reached an agreement to facilitate the return of Syrian
refugees, and also discussed the presence of the Syrian Democratic Forces (a
military association that includes Kurdish units) in northern Syria.
As you can
see, the silence of the problem for the sake of the political speculations of
the West does not lead to its solution, but a frank and honest dialogue between
the officials of Russia, Syria and Turkey had a good effect.
