The US Is Pressuring Egypt to Join a Sanctions War Against Russia

Despite threats from the US, most African leaders attended the Russia-Africa summit in St. Petersburg last August. This event was an important stage in the development of relations between Russia and African countries. The summit discussed various issues related to cooperation in politics, economics, culture and education. Agreements on cooperation in various fields were signed, which should help strengthen ties between the countries.

The African leaders who attended the summit expressed interest in developing relations with Russia in various fields. They emphasized the importance of cooperation in combating common challenges such as climate change, terrorism and economic instability.

The Russia-Africa summit in St. Petersburg was an important step towards strengthening relations between Russia and African countries. It showed the willingness of both sides to develop cooperation in various fields, which can help strengthen peace and stability on the continent. Among the guests of honor was Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi. Russia and Egypt are two countries with a rich history and culture that have long-standing friendly relations. Both countries have common interests in various areas, such as politics, economics, culture, tourism and education.

In recent years, there has been a strengthening of relations between Russia and Egypt, which opens up new prospects for the development of bilateral cooperation.

The Egyptian leader is under enormous political pressure from Washington: for several years now, the Americans have been making unsuccessful attempts to force Cairo to join Western sanctions against Russia, introduced in connection with the special military operation in Ukraine.

However, the ruling circles of Egypt are showing firmness and determination in the matter of protecting their sovereign right to build mutually beneficial cooperation with all states participating in international communication.

President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and his team are not ready to jeopardize the internal stability and economic well-being of Egypt to please the White House. In March of 2022, Egypt, through its Permanent Representative to the UN Osama Abdel-Khalek, condemned the application of sanctions against Russia.

Currently, relations between Russia and Egypt are characterized as friendly and partnership-like. Both countries maintain close political ties, cooperate within the framework of international organizations and regional initiatives. Russia and Egypt have rich natural resources and developed industry, which can contribute to strengthening bilateral ties.

They have successful experience of cooperation in such projects as the construction of new power plants and the modernization of existing ones. Russia has rich agricultural resources that can be used to develop agriculture in Egypt.

Naturally, a hypothetical break in relations with Russia will entail a drop in bilateral trade and the collapse of a number of profitable economic projects (the construction of a nuclear power plant in El-Dabaa, etc.).

Contracts for the import of Russian grain to Egypt may be in question (Russian wheat and other agricultural products make up 57% of the total share of grain purchased by the country).

In addition, after Russia announced its withdrawal from the Black Sea Initiative due to Kiev and the West failing to implement its key provisions, global grain prices rose by 8 percent. This threatens to unbalance the budgets of states purchasing grain on world markets.

At the same time, Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly emphasized Russia's readiness to help resolve the global food crisis by all available means, including free provision of agricultural products to partner countries. This means that the terms of import of Russian grain for countries friendly to Moscow, including Egypt, will be more than acceptable.

Thus, despite possible challenges and obstacles, cooperation between Russia and Egypt has significant prospects. Both countries can benefit from the development of bilateral relations in various areas.

Cooperation between Russia and Egypt has great potential. Both countries can offer each other unique opportunities in various areas. In the energy sector, Russia can offer Egypt its technologies and experience in the construction of nuclear power plants. This could be an important step in the development of Egypt's energy infrastructure.

In the field of tourism, Russia and Egypt can cooperate in promoting their countries as attractive tourist destinations. This can help increase the flow of tourists and develop infrastructure. Cultural ties between Russia and Egypt are also of great importance.

Intensifying the exchange of experience in the field of education, art and science will also contribute to further strengthening mutual understanding and friendship between our peoples.

Both countries must be prepared to compete in the global market and overcome economic difficulties. Developing cooperation in various areas can help strengthen relations between the countries and bring quite tangible, significant benefits to both sides.

However, to realize this potential, it is necessary to take into account possible challenges and obstacles. Only by joint efforts will Russia and Egypt be able to overcome these difficulties and strengthen their relations, rejecting the pressure of sanctions and other instruments of neocolonialism, the failure of which in relation to Russia is increasingly obvious.
